The end is in sight! I can almost taste the refined sugar laden desserts I will surely be indulging in, a week from today.
It’s the 24th day of my 30 Days of Dedication Challenge. For 24 days I have only eaten 100% unprocessed foods and ingredients, as well committed to exercising every 48 hours (or less). I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how you might be feeling as you approach this stage of your 30 Days of Dedication Challenge.
Am I Still Eating Clean?
One of the things I’ve noticed during the last week, is that I’m constantly questioning whether or not what I ate was clean. I know that all the ingredients and foods I’ve purchased are on the clean eating list. But for some reason, I still question whether or not that meal or snack was clean.
I find myself looking at cans and lists of ingredients, checking if there’s something I’ve missed. This is especially true during the times that I’ve baked. I made clean chocolate cupcakes this past weekend and it felt like cheating.
I think that if a meal tastes especially yummy or decadent, it feels like cheating. But that is all in your head. The ingredients are still pure and can taste amazing!
I Want It So Bad…But I Won’t
I’m not going to lie, I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to eat next week, a lot. There have been days when I really, really want to cheat. But I know I won’t and you won’t either.
When you get to this stage of the challenge, you’ve come too far to quit now. At the beginning it might be harder to combat the cravings because you think about how long 3 or 4 weeks might feel. But when you have just 7 days left, there’s no way you’re giving up.
So yes, you might fantasize about the gooey mac n’ cheese or greasy pizza you want to inhale right now. But you know, you’re in it to win it, and there’s no chance of cheating.
It’s Always Time to Eat
I am hungry all the time! After 3.5 weeks of eating clean and regularly hitting the gym, your metabolism is going to be on fire.
You are probably going to be eating more at this point. When you eat clean, you don’t deny yourself food. If you’re hungry, you eat. So expect that you’ll be consuming more calories towards the end. Don’t worry, your body will still show progress.
Do not fall into the trap of thinking you need to restrict calories while clean eating. You will be denying your body what it needs. Your best results – mentally, physically, and emotionally, will come from eating 100% clean and listening to your body’s needs.
I bet that if you’re at this phase of your challenge, you’re feeling pretty good about yourself. And you should! It is extremely challenging to rid your diet of all unprocessed and unrefined foods.
Even if you buy all your food from the grocery store, you’ll still find that these modern retailers are mostly made up of processed foods. And then when you consider all the fast food options, coffee shops, restaurants, and everything else available, you realize that’s it’s no easy feat to avoid it all.
If you’re like me, keeping a consistent gym routine is always challenging. If you can commit to going every other day for a month, you will feel and see the changes in your body, guaranteed. And that is something to celebrate!
By the last week of the 30 Days of Dedication Challenge, you’re going to feel pretty great about yourself. You’ll know you’re about to crush this goal and you should be #ProudOfYourself.
